spring equinox 2022

This year’s Spring Equinox will be Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 10:33 am. Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury and the Sun will all be in the sign of Pisces. The Piscean energy is a compassionate energy, shining a light on our sense of oneness with divine and our oneness with everyone and every thing.

Meanwhile, at the time of Equinox, we will have Gemini at zero degrees on the ascendant and Venus conjunct the midheaven at 13 Aquarius with Mars only three degrees away, conjunct at 10 Aquarius. Flanking both sides of the Mars/Venus conjunction are Pluto and Saturn. Pluto is at 28 Capricorn and Saturn at 20 Aquarius is a little closer to Venus. Several quintile aspects are giving opportunities for the creative.

Many people may be feeling a bit more connected to an image of the brotherhood of humanity, or a deeper sense of oneness, especially during this global conflict with Russian forces attacking the Ukraine. We might be viewing the struggles and hardships of this global situation as we watch it unfold in the media and sensing our humanity with more depth of compassion. We may all be feeling the need for action or want to help.

In the chart of the equinox, Mercury and Jupiter are conjunct at 17/18 Pisces. The Sabian symbols for both degrees have to do with communication and dissemination of information from someone learned and spiritual, like an evangelical or spiritual teacher, and/or teaching and learning from a spiritual “master.”

The world’s spiritual leaders have taken a stance on the current crisis. Pope Francis condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine two days ago. There is also the element of the “media circus” in the Sabian Symbol for these degrees. The Dali Lama is quoted as saying, “Our world has become so interdependent that violent conflict between two countries inevitably impacts the rest of the world. War is out-dated – non-violence is the only way. We need to develop a sense of the oneness of humanity by considering other human beings as brothers and sisters. This is how we will build a more peaceful world.” See the Dali Lama’s message here.

As the title of a Wayne Dyer book states, “There’s a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem.” Avoid the media circus and be part of a spiritual solution. By setting aside some extra time for prayer, reflection and meditation, it may be possible to get more grounded, receive comfort, and needed inspiration during this Sunday’s equinox. Mars will be at 10 Aquarius, the Sabian Symbol for which is, “During a silent hour, a person receives a new inspiration which may change their life.” The only immediate action many of us may be able to take in the face of this situation is a spiritual one, but nonetheless, it may be the most effective. This Sunday, light a candle for peace, for the world, for Ukraine, and for yourself.

What is the Equinox?

Book Review: Pronoia

Pronoia is the Antidote for Paranoia: How the Whole World is Conspiring to Shower You With Blessings by Rob Brezsny

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Playful, witty, and eccentric, Brezsny gives readers a compendium of “888 tricks for becoming a wildly disciplined, fiercely tender, ironically sincere, scrupulously curious, aggressively sensitive, blasphemously reverent, lyrically logical, lustfully compassionate master of rowdy bliss.”

Brezsny is the author of one the most widely syndicated astrology columns, Free Will Astrology.

This is not the kind of book you would read in a linear way. I purchased this book a few years ago when my father’s best friend mentioned he went to high school with Brezsny. Short, 1-2 page themes are woven together which makes for great bathroom reading. Brezsny is does a wonderful job at putting his tips together with quotes, original writing style, and interesting and funny factoids.

Rigid or sexually repressed folks will likely not enjoy this book, as he does not exclude words like orgasm and masturbation, though he carefully avoids the four main expletives so common in our lexicon and considers the elevation of our common vocabulary as an important goal we all should contribute to. His main message is one of optimism over cynicism.

He quotes from a variety of religious traditions, historical and cultural figures, as well as pop culture. This is an uplifting and optimistic book, at times completely silly, and at other times ingenious. Readers will either love it or hate. It is not your typical book.

Book Review: Tuning the Human Biofield

Tuning the Human Biofield: Healing with Vibrational Sound Therapy by Eileen Day McKusick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you want to learn more about sound healing this was a good resource. Author includes case studies and testimonials.

McKusick has a scientific mind and it comes through in her writing. She developed her own therapeutic method to using tuning forks as a healing modality, which she now offers through trainings, books, products, through her website and more.

I enjoyed reading her personal story of how she came to this. She went from working in her family restaurant business and needing serious physical healing, to taking up yoga and the healing arts as a vocation. Before reading it, I was mostly interested in music’s healing effect on the body. Chapter 7-9 covers what and how she works with the tuning forks.

After reading it, I am more intrigued and interested in how a single tone or sound frequency has an effect on the body and the science behind it. Connecting that to the ASTROLOGY is whole other side or piece that I have long been investigating now.

There are now even more questions in my mind about the subject. My biggest take-away was the idea that we cannot FORCE the body with healing. This is something that I am learning first hand as I nurture my first broken bone, and something that I am learning in other areas of my life too right now, as I work on some mentoring with Carlo Monsanto and IOLEE. This books reiterates that same message of not forcing things for me.

I went ahead and bought her next book, Electric Body and am continuing to learn about sound healing, music, what writers new and old have said about sound, music, astrology and healing and how these fields intersect.

This week’s full moon in leo

This Full Moon at 27 Leo is Square to the LUNAR NODES asking us to take action.

Mars-Venus Conjunct in Capricorn at 16 degrees, seeking connection between heart, values and action.

This Full Moon is Inconjunct the Mercury-Pluto conjunction at 27 Capricorn, which will leave us sifting though the mental chatter on the grapevine or on the media or internet.

Express yourself to the fullest that you can. Ultimately, if you are in your truth then your full radiance will benefit others and you need not worry about acceptance, have faith and courage.

Reboot the new year

If you failed to set New Year’s resolutions this year, now is the perfect time to redeem yourself. We are getting a little jump start from the planets. For the first time since March of 2021, all of the planets are in direct motion. Mercury stationed today (Feb 4) and four pairs of planets were partnered up in conjunctions. Uranus and Jupiter are the only two “loner” planets right now, not paired up with another planet in a conjunction. (On 2-2-22, there were 4 pairs of planets in 2’s!)

While we have the next three months of forward momentum, commit to making progress on your most important dreams, goals, and intentions. Define them with more detail and timelines. Or, recommit yourself to existing goals. Whether you fell off the wagon dieting and exercising, or if you failed to organize that messy closet, it is not too late. Big, or small, you can always take some action towards a goal. Actions will accumulate over time and become the building blocks that make your dreams come true.

Here’s how the four planetary conjunctions may influence us in the current time.

Moon/Neptune – 21 Pisces was exact today on February 3rd. Avoiding negative people right now can help, though the moon moves fast and this may be wearing off some now. This combination of energy can make us “emotional sponges,” picking up the energy of others around us. Though this energy may also be quite humanitarian in nature, you may need to guard yourself and be your own advocate.

Sun/Saturn – 15 Aquarius was an exactly conjunct on February 3rd and will be separating. With this transit it may be a good time for organizing and planning or bringing FORM to projects that have been in incubation. It may also be a time of low energy, so watch your physical health.

Mercury/Pluto – Next is Mercury/Pluto within 2 degrees and approaching, and becoming exact of February 11, in the late degrees of Capricorn. This combination rules all kinds of propaganda and indoctrination. Be ware of your sources of information and how it impacts institutions. Make sure you have all of the facts.

Mars/Venus – Last is the Mars/Venus conjunction voyaging through Capricorn. They will be exact on February 12th. When Mars is conjunct Venus it is a good time for creative work that requires you to be physically active, and generally produces an interest in the opposite sex. Notice where and how the masculine and feminine come together to create and learn and where the lack of healthy outlets for this energy can cause discord.

Uranus in Taurus – Rethinking our resource management and overhauling what we can do to conserve will continue for some time. We are only at 10 degrees of Taurus and will still only be about halfway through Taurus by the end of 2022 thanks to retrograde periods.

Jupiter in Pisces – Jupiter is currently at 7 Pisces. It will ride the fishes all the way until May 11, and enter Aries. It dips back into Pisces in the late months of 2022 and then goes direct November 23, returning to Aries very close to the Winter Solstice, Dec. 21-22.

All of the planets will remain in forward motion until late April, when Pluto is the first (planet) that goes retrograde, followed by Mercury in May, Saturn and Neptune in June, Chiron and Jupiter in late summer. By September of this year only Venus and Mars will remain in direct motion while everything else moves retrograde.
