An Eagle, with its unparalleled clarity of vision in the animal kingdom, represents that part of each person which is always seeking the Truth.  The Eagle is is always on the hunt, in this case, for the hunt for self-knowledge and knowledge of the spirit, striving to reach towards our life purpose and life mission with greater clarity and focus. 

Eagles often symbolize striving for one’s vision, goals or your intentions for the future, or achieving new heights and soaring to one’s fullest potential.    It all begins with the story we tell about ourselves, to ourselves.  Sharing our stories and listening to the stories of others offers us healing. Astrology gives us an incredible vehicle for this kind of storytelling, self-exploration, and self-discovery. 

Beyond my duties as a teacher and astrologer, I enjoy making music, growing things in my garden.  The garden provides me many metaphors for life. 

my studies in astrology 

I began my astrological studies in 2009 through my training as a Waldorf teacher at Antioch University New England. As part of my Waldorf certification and for many years after, I studied the work of Rudolf Steiner as applied to human development and the cosmos. In 2015, I began western astrological studies through 90 hours of foundational courses with the Kimberly McSherry of the Houston Astrological Society. I studied Astrosophy for approximately five years concurrently, primarily through book study of the published work of Willi Sucher, via weekly mentoring calls with the Astrosophy Research Center in Meadow Vista, CA. I have worked with and attended a variety of online courses and conferences including online conferences with New Paradigm Astrology, Astrology Hub Inner Circle, Kepler College, and Jonathan Hilton’s ISIS Sophia courses online at Astrosophy.com. Through all of these studies, I continue to return to the work of Rudolf Steiner again and again as a foundational understanding of the human being and the cosmos. I am also influenced by the contemporary astrological writers such as Richard Tarnas, Rick Levine, Steven Forrest, Chris Brennan, Adam Sommer.

In 2021, I certified through NCGR-PAA, the National Council for Geocosmic Research, and the Professional Astrologers Association.   In, July 2022, I attended the first gathering of the New Astrology Emerging through the StarHouse in Boulder, CO going more deeply into sidereal astrology with Brian Gray, David Tressemer, and Robert Schiappacase and currently facilitate a monthly zodiacal study group for those participants.

I am a certified Texas public school teacher and a certified Waldorf teacher, with twenty-five years in Elementary Education.  I was the co-founder of two different private schools in the Houston area since 2001. Last few nights it’s been nice to see Moon near Venus, and Mars close by , all near Castor and Pollux. City and seasonal haze has been blocking out much of the night sky here, but Venus has been visible through all of it. Just a few months back, the Summer Triangle was hard to see in the morning horizon, but now it flies high overhead just before Dawn. By end of May we clear Mercury shadow. What is opening up for you? New opportunities? New perspectives?? Travel? Venus will go retrograde in the summer beginning July 23 lasting to September 4. Between then and now Pluto crosses back into tropical Capricorn returning to the lessons of the recent past to consolidate Capricorn beginning June 12. Saturn goes Rx June 17. Neptune Rx June 30. MERCURY STATIONS today in about another half an hour from now (10:15am or so Central Time) and is nearly exactly sextile Saturn when it does. According to Robert Hand's Planets in Transit, this might be a good time to see what needs to be "changed or corrected in your environment." (p. 158) Yesterday I saw a good reminder about choosing your company wisely. Hand goes further, saying, "loneliness is a danger of this transit because you may mentally isolate yourself from other people." I was fortunate yesterday to be in the good company of fine musicians and human beings I admire who generated and affirmed my sense of life and joy after one of the worst weeks. (May is always a trying time for tired, stressed out teachers.) Pluto will be retrograde until October 11. We currently have Mercury retrograde in Taurus, and Pluto retrograde in early Aquarius, moving towards Capricorn. April is here! With tropical Aries-season upon us it is important to acknowledge and trust our personal power and agency and take responsibility. This week on Wed. April 5th we will have the Libra Full Moon at 11:34 pm on nearing midnight for the Central Time zone. Set healthy boundaries. There is the old expression that good fences make good neighbors. BOUNDARIES, folks. For this Full Moon, Chiron and Jupiter are conjunct the Sun. We also have Pluto, Saturn, Venus, and Uranus making tight aspects to the Moon. All of these aspects are less than 2 degrees in orb. Mars and Mercury are sextile, and Mercury and Saturn are sextile. It seems like a good time for communication of goals, intention, and purpose with these advantageous aspects to Mercury, but with Chiron present, be sure that what is being communicated doesn’t come from a wounded (victim) space. Yes, there are real victims in the world who need our care and support. But, in the words of Chris Rock, “Everyone is trying to be a victim.” In his recent Netflix comedy special, Rock goes off on victim-mentality in American culture. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. But this lunation points to getting over the victim-self (Chiron/Jupiter/Sun) and taking personal power and responsibility to make our choices and determine our own free will and not be victims. Boundaries with the self. Don't play mind games with yourself and don't talk yourself into being a victim. Celebrate your personal power during this Libra Full Moon, celebrate all that you have accomplished up to this point in your life and honor healthy boundaries in your relationships. The sun was elusive moving in and out of clouds and the field was covered in fog and mist which evaporated in the time it took for me to write this. In these dynamic changes we experienced this month astrologically our horizon or destination can be elusive. How can we maintain a freshness of soul? What restores you?
